Countdown to the MTV VMAs: What to Expect!

After last year's memorable MTV Video Music Awards (what with that infamous Kanye West/Taylor Swift incident and Janet Jackson's emotional tribute to her late brother Michael Jackson!) the 2010 show has a tough act to follow. But it looks like it just might bring some excitement of its own!
Read on for six reasons to tune into Sunday night's show:
1. Chelsea Handler
With the unfiltered, unapologetic comedian taking over hosting duties, you can expect a heck of a lot of bleep moments and celebrity roasting. And the late-night host has no doubt that she's the woman for the job. "If there’s one awards show that I should be hosting, it’s probably this one." she told the New York Times.

2. Kanye West
Handler isn't the only one aiming to make this a night to remember, as West is making his return to the VMA stage to perform -- with Swift, a fellow nominee, in the audience! He's apologized to the country darling and promised to behave -- but we have a sneaking feeling the producers will find a way to work some Kanye jokes into the show.
3. The Performances
The rocking performances will likely have the audience dancing in the aisles. Nominees Eminem, Justin Bieber, Usher, Paramore, Nicki Minaj, B.o.B. featuring Hayley Williams, Linkin Park, Florence + the Machine, Bruno Mars, and Drake featuring Mary J. Blige and Swizz Beats (aka, Alicia Keys' husband) are all set to take the stage.
4. Lady Gaga
The 2010 VMAs has already become one for the record books, as Lady Gaga garnered a whopping 13 nominations, more than any other artist in history. The number of statues she'll take home --  and what crazy costume she'll wear! -- is yet to be determined.
5. The Nominees
Gaga won't be the only one vying for a moon man, as Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Muse, Jason Derulo and MGMT are amongst the top VMA nominees.
6. The Big-Name Presenters
Celebs from the music industry and beyond will be taking the stage to present, and this year has no shortage of star power. The casts of Glee and Jersey Shore, Cher, Justin Timberlake, Ellen DeGeneres, Emma Stone, Ashley Greene, Joe Manganiello, Chris Pine and Penn Badgley are just a few of the famous faces slated to stop by the ceremony.
Don't forget, we'll be covering the crazy fashions and moments of the VMAs, so be sure to check in with iVillage on the night of the show! The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards airs live on MTV at 9 p.m.
